Sirenia Vazquez Baez
Vazquez is part of an economic research team at CNBV that is currently studying the historical patterns of savings and credit flows at a regional level in Mexico.
Her research interests focus on the evolution of financial savings, financial intermediation and its impact on competition, financial structure and economic growth. She also studies the development of financial markets and the discipline they exert on the main market participants.
Before joining CNBV, Vazquez held numerous positions as a researcher in both the public and private sectors. She started her career at the Mexican Federal Government, conducting impact evaluation research of social programs that target poor households in Mexico. Later, from 2006 to 2009 she became part of the economics analysis team of a brokerage firm, studying the main macroeconomic and financial events that affect equity, fixed income and derivatives markets.
Vazquez holds a B.A. in Economics from CIDE (Mexico), and she is currently finishing her MSc in Risk Management from ITAM (Mexico).
